Dog Walking
Yesterday Patty (Patch the white and black, rough haired/long haired Jack Russel) and I decided against out usual work in the more wild and rugged Preston Park and drove instead to Ropner Park where the flowers beds were in full bloom and the restored Victorian fountain was spouting - the first time since I first started going to the park around 1969 that I have seen it working. The sun was shining and every where looked rather beautiful and for old time's sake I walked along the street where I lived as a child, Richmond Road that borders the park, and had a bit of a wallow in nostalgia. Returned home feeling I would like to live there again one day. Began to write. Words still coming slowly, but I am less torn between the two novels in progress and think I will concentrate on the more adventurous idea.
Today Patty and I had a brisk walk beside the River Tees. The geese are in good voice; the trees are becoming less leafy. Patty is now dozing on his back on the chair in my study, exhausted.
